Donald Glover Sues Former Label Over Unpaid Royalties

Donald Glover sues his former record label over a royalties disagreement.

It appears that Donald Glover has a bone to pick with his former label, Glassnote Entertainment. Apparently, Glover is suing the company over unpaid royalties, which have continued to pile up.

On Friday, September 14, Glover filed the lawsuit, claiming that Glassnote made a ton of money off of him but refused to pay him royalties owed. After releasing several successful independent projects, Glassnote pursued him in 2011. They entered into a licensing agreement – agreeing to split profits with the label.

After being forced to conduct an audit, Glover found out that Glassnote failed to pay him on a number of occasions – including his digital transmission royalties, miscalculation of fees owed from Canada profits, under-reporting international revenues, taking excess deductions and misreporting his merchandise sales.

Glover believes he is owed $700,000 in streaming royalties.
