“PAIN?” is wifisfuneral’s Most Vulnerable Project to Date

wifisfuneral - PAIN?

wifisfuneral taps into a new sound with his PAIN? LP.

Offloading an emotional outpour of mixed emotions and personal triumphs, the South Florida mischief maker pivots to a more mild, vulnerable state of artistic expression. Melding inward-looking prose with pensive cuts that spotlight his vocal range, wifi displays a sense of empathy that’s universally embraced and understood.

His calmed delivery enables listeners to live vicariously through what thoughts pervade the mind of rap’s 23-year-old composer.

PAIN? finds wifi transitioning from sadboi anthems of unrequited love like “End of Story,” to a medley of experimental ballads such as “Back Ache” or “Ocean,” featuring upstate’s very own Smoove’L. With only 3 features on the album (Coi Leray, Smoove’L and Mariah Angeliq), PAIN? is an in the moment project that introduces the world to wifi’s emotional state at this current stage of the ongoing pandemic – he’s happy, sad, and angry all in one, an emotional wreck just like the rest of us.

Alongside the album, wifi shares the music video for “Lost in Time” ft. Coi Leray. Directed by Silver Spoon, the video captures the pair in isolation, exploring uninhabited fields and a vacant studio while going through the motions of love — but alas, it was only a dream.

PAIN? finds wifi in a volatile state of self-discovery. It’s interesting to see what level of artistic growth will manifest from wifi’s sonic evolution as a creative. But, at this very moment, it’s fair to say that he has mastered the art of  mindfulness.
