Waka Flocka has been found not guilty of 2014 gun charges.

A jury has found Waka Flocka, born Juaquin Malphurs, not guilty of charges filed after a handgun was found in the “No Hands” rapper’s carry-on bag at Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport. In October 2014, Waka was arrested and faced charges including carrying a weapon in an unauthorized location.

According to defense attorney Drew Findling, a Clayton County jury took less than thirty minutes on Thursday to acquit Waka following a four day trial. Apparently, the incident stemmed from an honest mistake – Waka had accidentally taken his wife’s bag to the airport without knowing the gun was inside.

Findling said he’s extremely happy with the jury’s decision. He also revealed that the defense had maintained from the beginning that the whole thing was a mistake.

Findling stated, “As soon as he got stopped, he said that the gun was not his and that he had packed his wife’s backpack on his way to a performance in Houston; they were staying in a hotel before moving into a new house.”
