TM88 gets personal with new cut, ‘War Stories’, featuring Calboy and Slatt Zy.

The Grammy nominated producer and Taylor Gang affiliate has become a linchpin of rap’s acclaimed trap soundscape. He’s a staple of Atlanta’s thriving culture, citing featured collaborations with the likes of Lil Uzi Vert, Young Thug, Future and many more architects of sound. This time around, TM88 wears his heart on his sleeve, depicting pain on beats with his signature bass-heavy sequence.

War Stories‘ is an inward-looking effort that accentuates the perils of life in the streets. Calboy details past accounts of strife and drug induced paranoia that offer insight into his reserved disposition, while Slatt Zy leans on trigger-happy mentions to show how he’s living.

Thematically speaking, this record is symbolic of loss.

“Everyone including myself has lost a lot of good people throughout the years and “War Stories” pays tribute to all of the fallen soldiers we’ve lost to the streets and beyond,”says TM88 via a captioned post on Instagram. Everyone copes differently, but it’s evident that music is both a healing agent and therapeutic vice for many.
