Over the weekend, rising New Orleans rapper BTY YoungN was shot and killed.
On Saturday, Birdman and Cash Money Records affiliate, BTY YoungN, born Desmone Jerome, was murdered in New Orleans.
The 27 year old up and coming rapper was shot several times at a Shell gas station on Airline Highway in Hollygrove. When police arrived to the scene, they found BTY lying in a gas station pumping area. He was pronounced dead on the scene.
As expected, BTY’s sudden death has impacted many family members and friends, who have described him as a positive person with a good heart.
Glen Bell, BTY’s cousin, told The Times Picayune, “He was a very uplifting individual. A very positive individual. Very impactful. Rap is his career, not was. He’s going to live on.”
BTY YoungN’s mother believes the motive behind her son’s death was jealousy. She added, “He would literally give you the shirt off his back. He loved kids to death. It’s just rough.”
The following statement was posted on BTY’s Facebook page, “On behalf of YoungN’s friends and family, we ask that you please respect their privacy at this time. We will post arrangements once they are available, we will post for his fans. If you have any information on his murder, please contact Crime stoppers of Greater New Orleans.”
BTY recently won “Breakthrough Artist”of the year at the 2016 Nola Music Awards. In November, he released his “I Ain’t Sorry for the Wait” mixtape. Then, in February, YoungN released his “2nd Feed Up” project.
So far, no arrests have been made.
