Kashif Saleem has died at the age of 56.

The R&B world is devastated after losing a legend. Eighties singer, producer, and keyboardist, Kashif Saleem, known as Kashif, was found unresponsive by a neighbor in his Los Angeles home on Monday. The Los Angeles Coroner’s office said that Kashif had been dead since Sunday, and passed away from natural causes.

Via Twitter, Kashif’s family wrote, “It is with great sadness we the Family are confirming the passing of music legend Kashif in Los Angeles, CA. We will keep you updated.”

Kashif can be heard on releases by Kenny G, George Benson, Evelyn “Champagne” King, Johnny Kemp, Melba Moore, Dionne Warwick, Giorge Pettus, Stacy Lattisaw, Meli’sa Morgan, Exposé, The Wootens, Freda Payne, Whitney Houston, and many more. He is widely known for his signature use of the synthesizers.
