Police have yet to arrest a suspect in Yung Mazi’s killing.
On Sunday, Atlanta rapper, Yung Mazi, born Jibril Abdur-Rahman, 31, was gunned down while leaving Urban Pie restaurant in Kirkwood. Mazi sustained multiple gunshot wounds, and was found deceased near his white 2015 Mercedes sedan.
Following his death, police released a description of the shooter who ran from the scene, “We do have a black male. He was wearing a white tee shirt with dark jeans with dreads pulled back and possibly up in a bun.” However, there have been no new breaks in the case since Mazi’s passing.
On Wednesday, in an email sent to AJC, Sgt. John Chafee wrote, “Nothing new to release at this time. Homicide detectives continue to investigate and would ask that anyone with any information contact Crime Stoppers.”
The police have stated that Mazi was targeted. Sadly, last year during an interview, Mazi admitted he’d previously been shot 10 times.
Yesterday, Mazi was laid to rest yesterday in Atlanta.
