Musical pioneer Prince, born Prince Rogers Nelson, has passed away today at the age of 57. His body was found this morning at his Paisley Park home and studio in suburban Minnesota. Prince’s publicist confirmed the devastating in a statement saying, “It is with profound sadness that I am confirming that the legendary, iconic performer, Prince Rogers Nelson, has died at his Paisley Park residence this morning at the age of 57. There are no further details as to the cause of death at this time.”
Prince’s passing comes less than a week after his private jet made an emergency landing in Moline, Illinois after the singer began feeling ill while traveling from Georgia to Minnesota. Shortly after, Prince was briefly hospitalized to receive treatment, and was released three hours later. A rep from Prince’s team says the singer had been suffering from the flu and was forced to cancel a number of concerts earlier this month.
Authorities do not suspect foul play at this time.
