In 2004, the music industry took a huge blow to the chest when Ol’ Dirty Bastard passed away. But one thing we can all be thankful for are the memorable moments that he left behind. It’s easy for fans to hop onto YouTube and check out ODB’s most influential and epic moments then go to bed happy. However, when ODB’s oldest son, ODB Jr., recalls his last encounter with his father, it’s anything but joyful.
During a new interview with VLADTV, the 26 year old rapper reveals that his father forced him to watch him get high before his untimely death. ODB Jr. stated, “I use to smoke weed when I was younger, but this was different. My father was doing it in front of me and looking dead in my eye. We was kind of hanging out. He was smoking a lot of drugs. So the last time he was here, he got as high as he could ever get. He told me to sit there and watch him. Eye-to-eye. We did that. Then that was it.”
ODB Jr. also recalls his father stating that he was seeing angels before he passed away, and that was the first time he had ever done that. Feeling uneasy, ODB Jr. left the studio at that very moment and headed home. Shortly after, his family received the devastating call that ODB had died from an overdose. OBD Jr. stated, “It happened out of nowhere, it was so quick.”
An autopsy later revealed that a lethal mixture of cocaine and the prescription drug Tramadol was found in ODB’s system. He died two days before his 36th birthday.
