A grand jury has indicted Nicki Minaj’s older brother, Jelani Maraj, on charges of repeatedly raping a 12 year old girl. After deliberating for about a month, the jury made the final decision to indict him on April 4 after feeling that there was enough evidence to charge him.
Maraj has been charged with felony predatory assault against a child, felony sexual conduct against a child under age 13, sexual conduct against a child, and endangering the welfare of a child. If convicted, he could face a sentence of 15 years to life.
On December 3, Long Island, New York police arrested and charged Maraj with raping a minor. He was released from the Nassau County Jail the following day after his mother posted his $100,000 bail. Minaj has yet to publicly address the incident, and most likely she never will. Minaj has a very close relationship with her brother, even recently footing the entire $30,000 bill for Maraj’s wedding.
On Tuesday, Maraj appeared in court where he plead not guilty. He is due back in court on May 26th.
