Nelly owes Uncle Sam a huge lump sum of money.
Nelly is the latest celebrity to fall behind in paying their taxes. Last month, the 41 year old “E.I.” rapper was hit with a $2,412,283 federal tax lien. If he doesn’t pay up soon, there’s a possibility that his assets and property will be seized. However, Nelly is allegedly working with the IRS to get the matter resolved as soon as possible.
Unfortunately, Nelly’s tax woe’s are far from over. Earlier this year, the Missouri Department of Revenue reported that he owed $113,533 in unpaid state taxes from 2013, which has since piled up to $149,511 due to accrued interest and additional fees.
In better news, Nelly’s 2002 debut album, “Country Grammar”, became one of the few rap albums in history to become diamond certified by the RIAA. RIAA executives recently awarded Nelly with the plaque on July 26 at the Musicians On Call event in Philadelphia.
