Over the weekend rapper Nelly, born Cornell Iral Haynes, Jr. was arrested on felony drug charges in Tennessee. On Saturday a state trooper pulled over a bus that Nelly was riding in because it failed to display a U.S. Department of Transportation and International Fuel Tax Association sticker. Upon smelling marijuana the state trooper decided to conduct a search.
They revealed that they found a small amount of marijuana, five crystal rocks that tested positive for methamphetamine, and drug paraphernalia. Several handguns were also found, along with 100 small Ziploc bags that are commonly used for selling drugs. The Country Grammar rapper was arrested and taken to the Putnam County Jail with another passenger, Brian Jones, 44, who was arrested for possession of a handgun.
Nelly was charged with felony possession of drugs, simple possession of marijuana, and possession of drug paraphernalia. He was released on a $10,000 bond and is due back in court on June 19th.
