Nelly has been arrested for allegedly raping a woman.
Currently on tour in Washington with Florida Georgia Line, Nelly was arrested early Saturday on charges of second-degree rape.
TMZ broke the story, stating law enforcement sources spoke to a woman who claims she was raped on the rapper’s tour bus – which was parked in a Walmart parking lot. The victim specifically identifies Nelly in the report as the rapist.
The alleged rape occurred Saturday morning at 3:48 a.m. Nelly was arrested several hours later at 7 a.m. in Ridgefield, Washington, where he was also scheduled to perform with headliners Florida Georgia Line.
Nelly’s lawyer quickly released a statement on the his client’s current situation and claims his innocence, “Nelly is the victim of a completely fabricated allegation. Our initial investigation, clearly establishes the allegation is devoid of credibility and is motivated by greed and vindictiveness. I am confident, once the scurrilous accusation is thoroughly investigated, there will be no charges. Nelly is prepared to pursue all all legal avenues to redress any damage caused by this clearly false allegation.”
Nelly is currently in a relationship with actress Shantel Jackson. Him and Jackson was slated to star in a new E! reality show called “The Platinum Life.” Nelly is also reportedly slated to co-star in the upcoming new Scorese film.
