It looks like Grammy-winning songstress Mariah Carey is taking her talents to the small screen! Carey has confirmed that she will be starring in an eight part docu-series titled “Mariah’s World”.
During a press release, Carey stated, “I refuse to call it a reality show. I’m already having so much fun with this documentary and I know you will too. I’m excited to bring my fans into my life for the next journey I’m about to embark on. There is nothing like capturing these moments.” I guess Carey refuses to be placed into the same category as “Khloe & Kourtney Take Miami”, “Black Ink Crew”, “Love & Hip Hop”, and “Stevie J & Joseline Take Hollywood”. This will be the first time that fans will get a behind the scenes look into Carey’s life.
Jeff Olde, the Executive Vice President of Programming & Development at E! stated, “Mariah is one of the most captivating pop superstars of our time and one of the rare artists whose first name alone is instantly recognized around the globe. We’re excited to partner with Bunim/Murray Productions, Mariah and Stella Bulochnikov to offer our viewers exclusive access into her private world.” Bunim/Murray Productions is the same production team behind “I Am Cait”, “The Real World”, and “Keeping Up With The Kardashians”. However, the production company says “Mariah’s World” will be shot differently than their other shows.
Filming began two weeks ago and is set to air later this year. The show will follow Carey on tour in Europe and South Africa, as well as her journey to plan her wedding to Australian billionaire James Packer. Carey says her 4 year old twins Moroccan and Monroe, and Packer wont be filmed much for the hour long series.
