Yesterday, Kodak Black was arrested in his home state of Florida. Footage of the 18 year old up and coming rapper sitting on the ground in handcuffs before being taken into custody surfaced online, but his charges were unknown at the time.
Today, NBC South Florida revealed that the “Institution” rapper was arrested after taking part in a high speed police chase. Allegedly, police spotted Kodak purchasing marijuana from two men outside of a building known for drug sales. When police approached Kodak and another man, Wisdom Williams, the rapper drove away, running a number of red lights, and a car chase ensued. Kodak ended the chase by parking his car, hopping out, and tossing his gun into a nearby dumpster. The loaded glock 23 pistol was later discovered along with a 30-round magazine round of ammunition.
Kodak is facing charges for weapon or ammunition possession by a convicted felon, marijuana possession, several traffic violations, as well as eluding an officer. He’s currently being held on more than $5,000 bond.
Kodak has been previously convicted on a kidnapping charge, and possessing a weapon.
