The music industry will either make you or break you, and unfortunately for Iggy Azalea, she was left broken. 2015 was a tumultuous year for the 25 year old Canadian beauty who was dragged in the media a number of times because of her music, her past homophobic comments, and her ever-changing appearance. Like many celebrities, the media portrayed Azalea in a way that she disagreed with, which ultimately led to her having a breakdown.

In May of 2015, Azalea canceled a string of concert dates, insisting that her team needed “more time in development”. Shortly after she ended up canceling her entire “Great Escape Tour”. The fame and fortune proved to be too much for Azalea.

In the latest issue of Schön! Magazine, the “Fancy” rapper stated, “I had to have a psychotic breakdown last year. I felt tired and stressed out. Last year, I felt like I was definitely not in control of the media’s narrative of me. It made me feel very out of control of my own life or my ability to have my own perception of who I was. You don’t want someone else writing your narrative and making you the villain. Then I just realized that, you know what, you can’t control it and I think I accepted that and moved on to living my life.”

Azalea hasn’t released any music in a year, but she has gained a peace of mind with the help of her horses and her fiance Nick Young. Music is a constant thought running through Azalea’s head, but she admits she is concerned about how she will balance her personal life and a music career. Azalea stated, “See? It’s too much stuff! I’ve got to a have a wedding and go on a f-king honeymoon and … put on an arena tour, all across the whole world.”
