A New Jersey Transit train was involved in a shocking accident Thursday morning.

Just before 9:00 a.m., a commuter train crashed through a barrier at a busy station in Hoboken, New Jersey after traveling at a high rate of speed. The accident left one victim dead, and more than 100 people injured. The train meant to stop – eventually slamming against a wall of the Hoboken Terminal building.

The impact of the crash jolted passengers forward, leaving many bloodied, bruised, and unable to move. Many windows had to be broken to help passengers climb to safety. Cries and screams could be heard as safety workers climbed through rubble and debris to help the injured.

Sadly, Fabiola Bittar de Kroon, 34, was killed after she was struck by debris while standing on the platform when the train pulled in. Kroon was a Hoboken resident, with a promising career in New York City. She is survived by her husband and 18 month old baby girl.
