Days after Florida rapper Shay Baby posted his “Cold Outchea” music video onto Youtube, he was killed because of it. In the song, Shay Baby, born Rashay Garrison, raps about the harsh realities of life in the hood, including robberies, sibling killings, snitching, and child molestation. Apparently, the lyrics struck a cord with Ishmael Daniels, who ended the rising star’s life.
Around 4 a.m. on Monday morning, Daniels followed Garrison around in a rental car until the rapper parked. Once parked, Daniels pulled up next to Garrison’s car (a Dodge Charger, that is featured in the video) and fired over 10 shots from a rifle into the vehicle. Garrison was pronounced dead on the scene, the passenger in the vehicle managed to escape with minor injuries.
Police tracked down Daniels the following day after he returned the rental car that is believed to be the vehicle he was driving during the shooting. The police stated that the rental car had been scrubbed with bleach, and upon being arrested Garrison smelled like bleach too.
Daniels has been arrested and charged with Garrison’s murder, as well as the attempted murder of the passenger in Garrison’s car, and for possession of a firearm by a convicted felon. His bail is set at $1 million.
