EMAN8’s Debut Album “Emanate” Blends Passion & Merriment

by Derrius Edwards

Music enthusiast, artist, composer Brandyn Burnette, or better known as EMAN8, has released his debut album entitled Emanate.

The prolific songwriter has quite an esteemed resume in working with the likes of artists such as John Bellion, Bebe Rexha and pop sensation boy-band Backstreet Boys.

With a background in studying Musical Theater at the prestigious New York University and being the son of 80’s R&B star O’Bryan, you can only imagine the insurmountable amount of talent that lies within EMAN8.

As an independent artist he has successfully developed the underlying characteristics required to thrive musically while vibing to his own tune in doing his own thing.

Through all the experience, encounters and accolades that have followed as a result of his highly regarded musical catalog, EMAN8 is now positioned to share his truth in the form of a cadence encompassed on 8 tracks.

The album opens up with “Stir“, a piano-keyed harmony infused record that serves as an uplifting decree of switching things up and what benefits can arise from doing so. Highlighting the importance behind stepping out of your comfort zone and shifting the perceptive narrative that has defined your life so far.

Amen” is an ode of homage to a higher power for the blessing bestowed upon EMAN8’s life in the form of his significant other. As referenced in the line, “Amen, now that I found you I will never doubt you/You know you’re making me a better man/So close to heaven I can’t live without you” there’s a resounding rejoice exhibited as a result of his newfound fondness.

Reese’s Pieces” is an uptempo, soothing acoustic that gives further meaning to the term eye-candy. This track is riddled with punchlines and other suggestive innuendos that allude to EMAN8’s “sweet-tooth” and what treat is most appropriate in satisfying his arousal.

Grateful” taps a feature from Forrest and both artists did an amazing job at professing their love on a catchy, reggae-esque beat in alignment with a thunderous trumpet sequence. Love is definitely the underlying concept that enables both lyricist to effortlessly convey their expressed sentiments.

Inspired” is all around feel-good music, in the literal sense. There are several references throughout the piece that further emphasize the desire of fulfillment. Fulfillment deriving from a controlled bliss galvanized by self-love and appreciation. In the same breath,  there’s so much strength that manifest from pouring into others in the form of a shared moment and EMAN8 personified this duality eloquently.

Iou” snags a feature from Kid Quill and expresses detest for those that count favors. However, when it’s time to return the favor EMAN8 has no shame in demonstrating appreciation for the helpful hand that virtually saved his life. Kid Quill decided to focus on the unwavering support extended on the behalf of his family and demonstrate transparency in his rhyme scheme.

Sympathy” is a clear understanding behind the premise that people may forgive, but they never forget. This track features Kelechi and was nothing short of a trip down memory lane that revealed the unwarranted feeling of betrayal and other sensations that coincide with a bad break up.

The album closes out with the track “Time” and is somewhat of a final farewell to the past. As referenced in the chorus, “I needed time to get over you“, there’s a conscious effort to detach from a learned love and instead shift focus on forthcoming experiences that aid in mending a damaged soul.

At times it’s the most daunting task that may reap the most fulfilling lessons in life. In essence, an endured pain can help in supplementing the growth required to thrive holistically.

Overall, this album is embodied euphoria.

The personal alluding to past relationships combined with EMAN8’s innate ability to use his truth as a testimony will only contribute to his impending rise to stardom.

It’s refreshing to know that vulnerability still exist and there’s no shame in expressing how you truly feel.

Catch a vibe and check out this unique album.
