DMV rapper Swipey, Douglas Brooks, was shot and killed over the weekend.
The music industry suffered two devastating losses over the weekend. Just hours after California rapper Kid Cali was gunned at a pool party, 18 year old DMV rapper Swipey was shot and killed outside of his mother’s home in Maryland.
Officers from the Prince George Police Department arrived to an apartment complex located in Suitland, Maryland just after 1:00 a.m. on Sunday and pronounced Brooks dead on the scene. Brooks was reportedly killed following an argument with a girl who he was involved with. Brooks’ manager, Kevin Baldwin, has confirmed that Brooks and the girl had a strained relationship, but they were not dating when he was tragically killed.
Police believe Brooks was an intended target, although they currently have no suspects or motives. One of Brooks’ friend confirmed via Twitter that he had been shot twice in the head at close range.
