It’s Muuuurrrrrrddddddddaaaaa! Grammy nominated rapper Ja Rule hasn’t been present on the music scene for some time now, but after serving two years behind bars for tax evasion, he has had plenty of time to reevaluate his life and get back to doing what he loves most. Rule recently sat down with Billboard and revealed that he has a double album in the works, and is also planning a huge world tour with his former collaborator Ashanti. Ja Rule told Billboard, “There comes a time when we’ve all got to grow up. For me that was prison. I realized the things I had worked so hard for were slipping away. I had a lot of time to reflect on the things I was doing to contribute to the problems I was having. You can make excuses all day but at the end of the day you have to take a look at the person in the mirror.”
The former Murder Inc. duo plans on releasing a film together titled Natural Born Killers, as well as an EP. While speaking to Billboard, Rule described Natural Born Killers as a cross between Oliver Stone’s 1994 film of the same name and the Barbra Streisand-starring film “A Star Is Born”, released in 1976. Rule stated, “We’re putting together a music and film project with our whole Natural Born Killers tour and EP. It’s kind-of like a Streets is Watching type of film.”
Learning from past mistakes, the 39 year old “Mesmerize” rapper is now the head of a household that he shares with his wife Aisha, their three children, his mother, and his mother-in-law. Ja Rule has partnered up with MTV for a family-friendly reality show titled Follow The Rules, which will be produced by Queen Latifah. Rule stated, “You can’t be mad at a man for raising his kids and taking care of his family. There’s something wrong with you if you have a problem with that.” The show premiere’s on October 26 at 10:00 p.m.
