Every since A$AP Yam’s passing last January, members of the Hip Hop community have been doing everything they can to keep his legacy alive. The latest commemoration of the A$AP Mob founder’s life will be honored by Bronx native and artist Ajani Brathwaite. Brathwaite came up with a great idea to release a book titled A$AP Yams Gems, which will consist of Yams most memorable tweets. The book is slated to drop on January 18th, which is the one year anniversary of his death. The book is available for pre-order for $40 and all proceeds will go to Yams’ family.
Brathwaite spoke with Billboard through email writing, “My inspiration for making the book was to make the Internet tangible. We’re all on the Internet all day tapping away on our touch screen phones. I had this idea of turning the virtual world into something real; Something you can hold and feel. I chose A$AP Yams because of the role he had in shaping today’s pop culture & because of his off-the-wall – yet, genuine – tweets.”
On January 18th, there will also be a honorary Yams Day tribute concert taking place at New York’s Terminal 5. A$AP Rocky and Joey Bada$$ will headline the concert, with additional performances from A$AP Mob, Flatbush Zombies, Joey Fatts, Aston Matthews, and Lil Uzi Vert.
