Hundreds of others were injured.

Travis Scott has canceled the remaining dates for his Astroworld Festival after eight people were killed last night at the NRG Stadium. The horrific incident took place at the sold-out venue, which contained over 50,000 fans. According to local authorities, around 9:00 p.m., the crowd began to surge, pushing victims towards the stage. Amongst the victims was a 10-year-old child.

Houston Fire Chief, Sam Pena, released the following statement confirming the alarming news, “We had scores of individuals that were injured. The crowd for whatever reason began to push and surge towards the front of the stage, which caused the people in the front to be compressed — they were unable to escape that situation.”

Astroworld Fest’s official Instagram posted a statement addressing the incident and offering condolences to everyone who was impacted by last night’s event.

To make matters worse, a source connected to the festival reportedly told TMZ that someone in the crowd was randomly injecting people with an unknown drug. Apparently, the surge began to take place after this occurred. Authorities are trying to determine if the unknown substance caused many to go into cardiac arrest.
