The Weeknd starts on hump-day this time around as XO’s own unconventional melodist blends a brash bravado with unsympathetic declarations of truth.
It has been quite some time since we’ve been able to live vicariously through Weeknd’s drug-induced rendezvous or eerie illusions of ecstasy that perplex even the most assured intellect, but his return is strongly desired and nonetheless welcomed.
After immersing himself in what appears to be a lengthy hiatus, The Weeknd returns with a record that is indicative of his dearth of remorse for aimless engagements and relationships that lack substance – As best referenced with the opening line, “Never need a bitch, I’m what a bitch need/Tryna find the one that can fix me“, there is a conscious effort to detach from the fixation of being damaged and requiring assistance while simultaneously exhibiting the haughtiness of an egotistical psyche.
As of now, nothing has surfaced as it relates to any indications of a potential full-length project in the imminent future, but slow progress is better than no progress, so I’m sure any social media banter going forward will press the issue on the captioned “NEW BRAIN MELTING PSYCHOTIC CHAPTER” The Weeknd referenced via Instagram.
