Today marks a very special day in the music industry. The first major album of 2019 has arrived. Future’s seventh studio album, The WIZRD, is here and fans couldn’t be happier.
Aside from Beast Mode 2 and WRLD On Drugs, Future remained pretty low key for much of 2018. During an interview with Zane Lowe, Hendrix stated the following, “In 2018 I just didn’t want to do anything. Five years I was on the road. Four or five tours all across the world, just doing it two, three times back to back. Soon as I get off a tour I got to go on another tour in two weeks, go on another tour.”
“I never get a chance to vacation. I never get a chance to go nowhere, so 2018 was my first time going different places, and trying different, new experiences, and staying places over two weeks.”
As far as the albums title, Future told Genius’ Rob Markman that it was inspired by his late uncle, “My uncle used to always call me ‘the wizard.’ Rest in peace, but that was his thing. He called me ‘the wizard’ and it was just showing love to him and dedicating the album to him and the name that he respected and I feel like I’ve worked for. I’ve worked to become everything he’s seeing before it even happened.”
The WIZRD comes laced with 20 tracks and guest appearances from Young Thug, Gunna, and Travis Scott.
