DMX has been keeping quite busy in the slammer.

Last month, DMX was sentenced to one year in prison for failing to $1.7 million in taxes. X was hoping to avoid jail time in his tax evasion case, but according to his lawyer, Murray Richman, the Ruff Ryderz rapper is doing better then we expected.

Richman released the following statement, “DMX] looks great, is very happy, and overall, is doing remarkably well.” Apparently, X has been working on new music since being taken into custody, all while receiving offers from book deals to movies about his life.

Richman also noted that X has received more than 600 pieces of mail from fans all over the world – including letters, notes, photos, and drawing. Unfortunately, the items are considered contraband in prison, so he won’t be able to read them until he has served his term.

DMX is currently at Metropolitan Correctional Center, awaiting a transfer to FCI Danbury, where he will serve his sentence. FCI is closer to X’s home and will give him the opportunity to take advantage of the treatment programs offered, due to his long history of drug abuse.
