J. Cole’s KOD album is here.
J. Cole has maintained a low profile since the release of his 2016 album, 4 Your Eyez Only. But on Monday, the North Carolina rapper made a swift return to social media to announce that his fifth studio album, KOD, would arrive in less than a week.
Today, KOD arrives, with 12 songs in total, and no guest appearances. However, Cole’s alter ego, kiLL edward, appears on two tracks. In addition, the album’s title has three different meanings – King Overdosed, Kill Our Demons, and Kids On Drugs.
Clearly, KOD’s goal is to bring light to drug addiction, which has constantly been glorified in the music industry – costing many people their lives. The album’s cover, which was designed by sixmau, has a disclaimer on it that reads, “This album is in no way intended to glorify addiction.”
