Craig Mack passes away.

Hip Hop legend, Craig Mack, 46, who rose to fame in the 90’s with his hit single, “Flava In Ya Ear”, has died from heart failure. TMZ reports that Mack passed away on Monday at a hospital near his home in Walterboro, South Carolina.

Mack’s producer, Alvin Toney, confirmed the saddening news with The Daily News, stating that he just met with him last week at the Overcomer Ministry church, where they were filming a documentary about Mack’s new life.

Apparently, Mack had joined a church and was committed to his religion. The film’s goal was to focus on Mack’s decision to give up on Hip Hop fame to follow his religious convictions.

Toney stated, “God bless my friend. He was a good friend of mine. Nobody got to understand his story. I wanted the world to know the talent he had. It was something I wanted people to enjoy, but it was cut short because he was very religious and wanted to go to church.”

Toney also says Mack told him that he was battling an unspecified illness, “He was prepared for whatever comes, to go home to the Lord. He was prepared to do that. He wasn’t scared. He was ready.”

Mack, who was signed to Diddy’s Bad Boy Records label, released his debut studio album, Project: Funk Da World, in 1994. Unfortunately, it was overshadowed by Notorious B.I.G.’s Ready to Die album, which was released one week prior.

Mack is survived by his wife and two adult children.
