Smylez has passed away.
Chicago artist and producer Smylez has passed away after suffering an brain aneurysm. His sudden death comes as an surprise, saddening many members of the Hip Hop community.
Rico Recklezz confirmed the heartbreaking news via social media, writing, “STOP SAYING SMYLEZ GOT SHOT HE HAD A HEART ATTACK GOD JUS CALLED HIS ANGEL HOME HE WAS A LEGEND AND WILL 4EVA BE THAT RIP SMYLEZ LOVE YOU.”
In another Instagram post, Rico wrote, “THIS SHIT JUS HURT MY HEART RIP MY BOY U BELIEVED IN ME LIKE A MF IM SALTY IM PAST HURT 069 KEEP YALL HEAD UP.”
Smylez worked Chicago artists King Louie, Young Chop,and Lil Jo Jo – and is a well known pioneer on Chicago’s drill scene. Three weeks ago, Smylez released a video for “Rey Mysterio” off of his “Drill for a Deal” project.
Smylez leaves behind a young son.
