Shawty Lo has passed away at the age of 40.
Early this morning, Shawty Lo, born Carlos Walker, was killed in a single car accident. Lo’s Audi crashed over a guardrail, hitting several trees, before catching fire at the Cascade Road exit on the southbound I-285. Sadly, Lo was ejected from the vehicle and was pronounced dead on the scene. There were two other women in the car who were transported to a local hospitl where they were treated for their injuries.
Originally, it was reported that Lo was killed in a hit and run accident, but Fulton police spokeswoman Corporal Maureen Smith has relayed to The Atlanta Journal-Constitution that “it has been confirmed now that it was a single car accident.”
Shawty Lo is the founding member of the rap group D4L, who rose to prominence in 2005 with their hit “Laffy Taffy.” Lo rose to fame with his breakthrough single “Dey Know”.
He is survived by 11 children.
