L.A. Reid reveals why French Montana’s “MC4” album was delayed.
French Montana’s sophomore album, “MC4”, was set to be released on August 19th, but was pushed back at the last minute, raising a few eyebrows. Via Instagram, in a series of tweets, Montana wrote, “Due to some sample clearances that are still being worked out, I have to move the album release date. – FM #MC4” and “I want to apologize to my fans that are waiting, I want to make sure the album is something special. – FM #MC4.”
It was nice of Montana to offer an explanation to his fans, but it wasn’t the truth. According to Epic Records founder, L.A. Reid, the label needed more time to buzz up Montana’s album.
During a recent Rap Radar podcast, Reid explained the main reason for the delay, “French is incredible and a beloved artist. And he deserves a moment, a real moment of monster success. And that’s what we’re aiming for. And we didn’t want a calendar to dictate that for us. We want it to really happen organically and naturally.”
Hopefully, French’s marketing team will spend the next few months promoting his album day and night.
MC4 is set to drop October 14.
