Last night, Joey Badass’ cousin was shot and killed in Brooklyn.
Joey Badass is mourning the loss of his cousin, Terell Henry, who lost his life due to a senseless act of violence. Last night, Henry was walking home from a party with his brother and a friend when he decided to stop at a Brooklyn deli to purchase an iced tea. Shortly after exiting the store and crossing the street, Henry was shot numerous times in the back and neck.
Derell Henry told the Daily News, “We heard the gunshots and we turned around and saw somebody get shot and fall to the ground. But we didn’t realize who it was at the time. I realize it’s my brother on the floor. I run to try and help him out and then a couple people in the area … called the cops for us.” A deli worker said he heard approximately four gunshots after Henry left the store.
Terrell was rushed to Wyckoff Heights Medical Center where he died from his injuries. The police do not have a motive for the shooting at this time, however, Terell’s father, George Henry, says his son was at the wrong place at the wrong time, and that he had no criminal history and wasn’t involved in any gang activity. George stated, “I don’t know if they mistook his identity or took him for someone else.”
Joey Badass expressed his sorrow via Instagram, writing, “No words… Just a heavy heart. RIP to my cousin Terrell Henry smh… Through all the positivity there’s always a negative… truly devastated 😞 #ForeverRell #ForeverJR.”
