If your looking to get a snapshot or record your favorite rapper or singer in concert, you better do so quickly because that option may be coming to an end. While most of us are completely obsessed with our iPhone, there are many people who choose to just watch the concert live. Apple has recently chosen a side in the debate, and is looking to resolve the issue with a patent.

Apple originally applied for the patent back in 2011, then again in 2014 before being granted. The patent describes the camera detecting an infrared signal and interpreting the data. It would block iPhones from taking pictures or video during a concert. Concert venues would be able to turn on a specific signal that would interrupt and block iPhone cameras from being able to record any concert footage. The patent could also be used to block photography in sensitive locations and to stop illegal filming in movie theaters.

This limitation would force iPhone users to put their phone away, as every attempt to take a photo or video would be met with a notification explaining that the feature is temporarily disabled.

If worst comes to worst, you can always snap a flick or record a show with an Android.

But don’t fret yet, Apple hasn’t announced when the technology will take effect.
