Fans were appalled upon learning of Prince’s passing, but the details surrounding his cause of death proved to be even more shocking. During his recent performances, Prince put on a good show and appeared to be in good health. But behind closed doors Prince was hiding an trouble addiction, which may have possibly played a role in his untimely death.

A few details from Prince’s autopsy results have revealed that the iconic singer had Percocet in his system when he died. It is unclear at this time if the strong painkiller contributed to his death, but it’s not being ruled out. Yesterday, it was announced that Prince was scheduled to meet with a prominent opioid addiction specialist from California the day after he passed.

Dr. Howard Kornfeld was contacted on April 20 because Prince “was dealing with a grave medical emergency”. However, he was unable to fly out to Prince’s home until April 22, so he sent his son, Andrew Kornfeld, to meet with Prince to discuss a treatment plan. Unfortunately, it was too late, and Kornfeld arrived to find Prince’s lifeless body in the elevator of his home.

William J. Mauzy, a lawyer for the Kornfeld family, stated, “The hope was to get him stabilized in Minnesota and convince him to come to Recovery Without Walls in Mill Valley. That was the plan.”
