I’ll be honest, when DeJ Loaf first dropped her “Try Me” video, I was a bit confused. Her lyrics were on point, and the beat was catchy, but the first question that popped into my mind was “Does she like girls?”.
The first scene of the video shows DeJ laced in a sexy black bra with matching panties and a red robe. Clearly, she’s beautiful with a great body. But as the scenes switch, it’s obvious that DeJ is a tomboy who loves to rock oversized t-shirts, bucket hats, jerseys, and high top sneakers. Either way, DeJ is great at what she does, but her fans were curious about her sexuality, and many were quick to jump to conclusions before she even addressed the matter.
However, during an interview with VLADTV in October 2014, DeJ finally opened up about her sexuality and set the record straight. The “Back Up” rapper claimed that she was not a lesbian just because she wore baggy clothing stating, “Sexy is what you make it. I’m wearing these things and guys are into it also. You know girls they make their little comments like ‘Yo, she’s a d*ke’ and your guy could be in my DM, so it’ s equal. If you look back, TLC, everybody use to wear baggy clothes and dress comfortable. I like to dress comfortable, I’m not walking around in heels all day.” But I’m not so sure that people bought that story, even to this very day.
DeJ is currently in a relationship with Chicago rapper Lil Durk, but her newfound relationship may have ruffled a few feathers. Stripper turned rapper, Kellie Kel says she knows DeJ Loaf, and that they have both slept with the same girl and that she is lying about being straight. The track sucks, but Kellie did say a few things about DeJ that will make you think twice.
