Early Thursday morning, Lil Mama was arrested while driving in Harlem. Allegedly, the 26 year old “Lip Gloss” rapper, born Niatia Jessica Kirkland, was pulled over after driving 38 mph in a 25 mph zone. Police would’ve just issued her a ticket and sent her on her way, but decided to take her off to jail once they discovered that she was driving with a suspended license. Consequently, she spent a few hours behind bars and will have to attend a future court date. No further details have been released.
Lately, Lil Mama has been focusing on rejuvenating her career. Last year, she released her “Take Me Back” mixtape, and dropped a video for “Sausage”, which was the lead single of the project. Most recently, she released her own rendition of Rihanna’s chart topping “Work” single along with a video.
Lil Mama is best known for portraying Lisa “Left Eye” Lopes in TLC’s biopic movie CrazySexyCool: The TLC Story.
