After filing for bankruptcy, 50 Cent felt that it was appropriate to continue to flaunt money on social media. Bankruptcy Judge Ann M. Nevins even called the rapper back to court to explain the photos. Unable to attend the hearing, 50’s lawyer, James Berman appeared and stated that the photos were “only for image-related purposes”. The photos have since been deleted.

Fif filed a statement in court on Tuesday claiming that the money in the photos is “prop money” used for G-Unit Records and videos and photo shoots, and that he isn’t hiding assets. Fif released the following statment, “Hip-hop culture is widely recognized as aspirational in nature. The standard by which artists and fans engage is commonly tied to money, jewelry, products and advertising over social media. Products and brands are now marketed through social media as an effective way to engage with consumers.”

He added, “Just because I am sensitive to the needs of maintaining my brand does not mean that I am hiding assets or that I have lied on my filings in this Bankruptcy Case, neither of which is true.”

Last month, 50 filed court documents stating that he only had $16 million in assets. After appraisers followed up on his claims, it was revealed that his assets totaled over $64 million. The U.S. trustee’s office is asking Nevins to appoint an examiner to review the 50’s assets.
