AraabMuzik, born Abraham Orellana, is the latest member of the Hip Hop community to fall victim to gun violence. Last night in Harlem, the 26 year old producer was shot in the jaw and right arm. Reportedly, a bullet grazed his head as well. James Malloy, 32, a friend of Orellana, was also injured, suffering a gunshot wound to the right leg.
Around 7:00 p.m., Orellana and Malloy were shot in the ProPark America parking garage on West 125th Street. Sources have revealed that they were leaving a friends house when they headed towards the garage. While driving towards the garage’s exit, two men approached the driver’s side of the BMW, one of the men pretended that Orellana had dropped something, tricking him into rolling down the window. That’s when the two assailants opened fire into the vehicle. The suspects fled on foot following the shooting. Police recovered three .380 caliber shell casings at the scene.
Orellana’s rep released the following statement, “He was out in his neighborhood with friends and unfortunately the victim of being in the wrong place at the wrong time. He is recovering now and police are investigating the crime.”
After undergoing surgery, Orellana is currently recovering at Harlem Hospital. Malloy is in stable condition.
