When Drake, Chris Brown, Rick Ross, Nicki Minaj and a number of my favorite artists failed to show up to the Grammy Awards I was highly disappointed. But I was crushed upon learning that Rihanna wouldn’t be performing, nor gracing the red carpet anymore.
Prior to the Grammy Awards, Rihanna showed up to rehearsal at the Staples Center. Those in attendance said Ri Ri nailed her performance of “Kiss Me Better”, which she was scheduled to perform later on at the awards. However, Rihanna may not have been feeling as well as she looked and sounded.
Apparently, Rih had to pull out of the awards due to a bout of bronchitis. Rihanna has been taking medication for the bronchitis, but also has been struggling with it for awhile. A doctor attending the rehearsal advised Rihanna not to perform because she could cause permanent damage to her vocal cords.
Rihanna’s rep released the following statement, “Based on Rihanna’s examination, after Grammy rehearsal today, Rihanna’s doctor put her on vocal rest for 48-hours because she was at risk of hemorrhaging her vocal chords. The antibiotics she has been on for 3-days did not kill the infection adequately therefore she cannot perform safely.”
