On Tuesday, Eminem’s former sister-in-law Dawn Scott, 40, was found dead in Warren, Michigan. Scott was found by Michigan police who said that her death was the result of an apparent heroin overdose. Toxicology tests are being conducted to confirm this. She is the twin sister of Eminem’s ex-wife, Kim Mathers. Sadly enough, Scott’s body was discovered in a trailer home located 15 minutes away from the neighborhood where she, Eminem, and Mathers grew up at. At the time of death, Scott was homeless and estranged from her family.

Over the years, Em and Scott developed a close relationship. After Eminem and Kim wed and started a family, they adopted Scott’s daughter, Alaina. They raised her like she was their child, as well as a sister to their biological daughter, Hailie. Due to Scott’s drug addiction, she was deemed an unfit parent. After signing over custody of her daughter to Eminem, Scott claimed she was supposed to see her daughter on the weekends, but she was never allowed to.

Allegedly, Scott has battled with drugs for years and reached out to family members as recently as four months ago for help. However, prior to her death, Scott claimed that Em nor Mathers offered her any help in overcoming her addiction. Scott had been dating her on and off again boyfriend Les Martin for the past four years who was well aware of her addiction. Martin stated Scott was “doing any kind of drugs she could get her hands on… Heroin, cocaine, Adderall. If it was a pill, she would take it… Klonopin were her downfall. She was swallowing them things like candy.”

Eminem, who is no to stranger drugs, overcame an addiction to Xanax, Vicodin, and Valium in 2008.

Condolences to Scott’s family and friends…
