When is the media going to let Chris Brown just live his life and be great? The 26 year old singer was booked to appear on The Daily Show With Trevor Noah last night to promote his upcoming album, Royalty. However, he was noticeably absent and replaced by Nick Cannon (who promoted his new film “Chi-Raq”) at the last minute.

Allegedly, staff members were uncomfortable about having Brown appear on the show due to his history of domestic violence, and felt that the booking would be inappropriate. In a meeting with The Daily Show staff, Noah discussed that he planned on chatting with Brown primarily about domestic violence. Noah’s mother was violently abused by his ex-stepfather, so many of his staff members felt that he wouldn’t be right for the interview, especially being that he had joked about Brown’s violent incident with Rihanna in the past.

Comedy Central provided a statement reading, “Guest bookings are always subject to change. The show hopes to reschedule Chris for a future appearance.”
