Last night, the 2016 BET Hip Hop Awards were aired.
The 2016 BET Hip Hop Awards were filmed last month at the Cobb Energy Performing Arts Centre in Atlanta. However, viewer’s around the world were able to watch the annual event for the first time last night.
Some of the biggest names in the industry were in attendance at the awards, but only one was lucky enough to take the cake in each category. Drake was nominated for an outstanding 14 nominations, eventually winning “Best Hip-Hop Video” for “Hotline Bling” as well as “Album Of The Year” for “Views”. Right behind him was Future with a whopping 10 nominations, unfortunately, the “Dirty Sprite” rapper failed to take home any awards.
Brooklyn rhymer Young M.A. took the stage with her hype man Keyz, and performed her catchy hit, “Ooouuu”, which wowed the crowd and got them up out of their chairs. She also participated in this year’s cypher, that featured Dave East, Jidenna, Lil Wayne, Consequence, Kent Jones, and many more!
DJ Khaled hosted the event, and also walked away with 3 awards – “DJ Of The Year”, “MVP Of The Year”, and “Hustler Of The Year.” Snoop Dogg took home one of the biggest awards of the night, the “I Am Hip Hop Icon” award.
