YNW Melly Denied Prison Release Despite COVID-19 Diagnosis

by Yellah Bone

YNW Melly will recover from coronavirus from behind bars.

Earlier this month, it was revealed that YNW Melly, born Jamell Demons, had contracted COVID-19 while serving time at Broward County Jail. Following the diagnosis, Melly’s attorney, Bradford Cohen, noted that he would betaking the necessary steps to push for an emergency release for medical treatment for his client.

Cohen argues that Melly is critically ill and suffering from body aches, chills, and he’s having trouble breathing, “He still has headaches and body aches. Mr. Demons is 114 lbs. The jail is just ill-prepared if his diagnosis takes a turn for the worse. They have not given them masks, or cleaning supplies that would be beneficial regarding his recovery.”

A judge has since shot down Cohen’s motion and denied YNW Melly’s release.

Melly has now reached out to Kanye West for help via Twitter, “@kanyewest need your help Dm.” Melly and Ye previously worked together on the smash hit “Mixed Personalities.” It’s unclear if West will step in and respond to the “Murder On My Mind” rapper.

After news broke that YNW Melly had been diagnosed with coronavirus, the family of one of his alleged victims came forward with their legal team and made it clear that they wanted him to remain incarcerated, “While our firm and the family of Anthony Williams’ sympathize with anyone affected by COVID-19, we do not believe this justifies pretrial release. He needs to remain in custody until a jury decides his fate.”
