The past few weeks have been quite tumultuous for Troy Ave. The 30 year old New York rapper’s image is completely tarnished due to his actions at Irving Plaza, and many people have already turned their back on him after viewing a 15 second clip of him opening fire. While some have ignorantly addressed Troy’s situation (Slim Thug), others like 50 Cent and Meek have publicly supported him and wished him the best. As of today, the support continues to pour in.

Compton rapper YG, who is currently on the road promoting his upcoming album Still Brazy, made sure to make a pit stop at Power 105.1 for a sit down with DJ Self. While there, YG offered his opinion on the deadly Irving Plaza shooting.

Careful with his words, YG stated, “Man, it’s sad, homie. It’s sad. Troy, that’s my dude. One time for Troy. I don’t even want to say what I really want to say on-air. It’s a sad thing. I dunno, bro, because I feel like this: if I got popped, I would have did the same thing. I would have made my way out that joint, period. And that just go for anybody else, that’s just reaction. Protocol… It come with the rap game and the streets.”

Yg was then asked how he felt about the surveillance video of Troy Ave being released, “That’s snitching… You putting it up there so the world to see it, and with that might come consequences. Jail time, you gonna get somebody caught up like that. But everybody ain’t from the streets, so everybody ain’t thinking like that. Half of this sh*t is entertainment for some people. This is real stuff we go through everyday.”

Troy’s next court date is July 7.
