YG Arrested On Robbery Charges

by Yellah Bone

YG was arrested Friday.

Unfortunately, YG has had another run in with the law. At 4:00 a.m. this morning, authorities raided the California rapper’s San Fernando Valley home after obtaining a search warrant. Deputy James Nagao of the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department confirmed the alarming news.

YG, born Keenon Jackson, was taken into custody and booked at Men’s Central Jail in Los Angeles on robbery charges. His charges are reportedly connected to “an ongoing criminal investigation.” YG’s bail has been set at $250,000. He is currently still in custody and scheduled to appear in court on Tuesday, January 28th.

According to TMZ, back in July, YG’s Escalade was involved in a high speed car chase in Los Angeles. The incident ended with a suspect in the vehicle shooting and killing a 65 year old man on a bike. At he time, YG told TMZ, “I was nowhere near the scene of this incident and had been in a recording studio all day in Hollywood. I was there until after midnight on the Fourth of July and didn’t learn of these events until after they happened.” It’s unclear if today’s arrest is connected to that case.

YG is scheduled to perform and pay tribute to Nipsey Hussle on Sunday at the 62nd Annual Grammy Awards alongside Kirk Franklin, DJ Khaled, John Legend, Meek Mill, Roddy Ricch, and more.

YG’s attorney, Joe Tacopina, says his client is innocent, “This arrest is one that caught YG completely off guard because there is no truth to them. YG has no idea what investigators are talking about and we have not been provided with any details … we are learning about this case through the media. Rest assured, my client will be cleared of all charges, if they even survive past the arraignment.”

He added, “YG has a performance scheduled at The Grammy’s Sunday where he will honor Nipsey Hussle … so the timing is suspect, to put it mildly.”
