If the prejudice was on the other foot, would the hood be the same?

Wale dishes out politically-charged visual that deconstructs some of the stigmas attached to black existence with premiering new ‘Sue Me’ short film.

Directed by Kerby Jean-Raymond, Haitian-American fashion icon and founder of Pyer Moss, the seven-minute visual is like one prolonged episode of ‘The Twilight Zone’, where the inconceivable transpires while society sits back and watch racial inequities unfold down their timeline.

With an on-camera appearance by Honey Boy thespian Lucas Hedges, Kelly Price’s soulful caterwauls echo in the distance while the film’s protagonist lives out what negative connotations are associated with “people like us”, people of a colored pigmentation.

The feeling of despair arising from disproportionate conviction rates or tension-filled public encounters at the hands of being racially profiled, it’s unwarranted, it’s unjust – but it’s also a harsh reality. Wale’s conscious effort to shed light on this notion of inhumane regard for life through song is game-changing.

I’ve never been more proud of a video than what we did here. Kerby really brought this vision to life, and Reebok helped make it a reality. I hope it makes you think a little. While you’re thinking, stay safe and stay home“, Wale says via Complex.
