Voletta Wallace celebrates another one of Biggie’s accomplishments.
On Wednesday, it was announced that The Notorious B.I.G. had been inducted into the 2020 Rock & Roll Hall of Fame. Following the exciting news, Biggie’s mother, Voletta Wallace, took to Instagram to share her joy with his fans.
In a post dedicated to the Hip Hop legend, Wallace wrote, “Brooklyn we did it!!! This is so long overdue. Thank you to everyone that helped make this happen for Christopher. Love you all.”
Wallace later expressed how grateful she was during a phone interview with Billboard, “Today, I’m feeling great. As a mother, I’m extremely proud of his accomplishments. You know, I still see such a young man at a young age, and sadly, he’s not here to witness all this. But it’s an astute honor, and as a mother, I’m just elated for that.”
“Many of [his songs] speak truth. It might be gritty, and maybe the language is so out there, but he was honest. There was nothing fake about what he was doing. I think for such a young man to resonate such honesty in his lyrics is awesome.”
In closing, Voletta added, “Rap is respected. We are in a changing time now. People’s thoughts are different. When you put it out there, there’s so much respect for it [now].”
Bad Boy Records CEO, Diddy, was also unable to contain himself following the announcement. Via Instagram, an ecstatic Puff paid tribute to his best friend, “Whoooooo!!! I want to share this special moment, special announcement with y’all.”
“Biggie you did it! You did it you muthafucka! Blap blap blap! The Notorious B.I.G. is going to be inducted into the Rock and Roll muthafuckin’ Hall of Fame! What the fuck! Love! We miss you king! New York, stand up. Brooklyn, yeah!”
The official induction will take place in May at Cleveland’s Public Auditorium. Other inductees include Nine Inch Nails, Depeche Mode, Whitney Houston, and more.
