The shooting that took place Irving Plaza was quite an unfortunate incident that left a few victims injured and one dead.

Police are still gathering evidence and trying to piece the puzzle together what really happened that night. Meanwhile, Troy Ave remains behind bars fighting attempted murder and weapon possession charges. Despite fighting for his freedom, Troy has still found it in his heart to help others and remain true true to his late friend, Ronald “Banga” McPhatter.

Last week, Troy’s lawyer, Scott Leemon announced that the “Doo Doo” rapper would be setting up an athletic scholarship at New Utrecht High School, where both he and McPhatter attended high school together. Today at 1 p.m., the very first New Utrecht student was presented with a $2,000 scholarship in McPhatter’s name. The fund will give one exceptional student $2,000 a year for five years. Kudos to Troy for helping the kids!

A few days ago, Troy released his first project since being locked up at Riker’s Island, Free Troy Ave. XXL’s Scott Glaysher reviewed the mixtape writing, “Free Troy Ave works well for Troy for two big reasons. For starters, he gets a chance to share his side of the story everyone is talking about. It must be incredibly frustrating hearing all the falsified stories while behind bars with no real chance to defend yourself; so for that reason, the current updates are well received. Plus, it’s always good to have new music for fans to digest while away for an extended period of time.”
