After sustaining a gunshot wound to the leg, Troy Ave, born Roland Collins, was taken into surgery so doctors could work on his injury. Yesterday, in the midst of his recovery, Collins was wheeled into Manhattan’s Criminal Court where he plead not guilty to his charges. One of Collins’ attorney, Scott Leemon, claims that his client is the actual victim in the incident that took place at Irving Plaza.

Leemon stated, “What really happened here is Mr. Collins here is the real victim. The person who was killed at this event, he died a hero. He was his bodyguard. He wasn’t shot by Mr. Collins. He was a lifelong friend. This 11 seconds of video that the NYPD released, it doesn’t say what happened before, it doesn’t say what happened after. The scientific evidence will show he didn’t shoot himself. This was another rush to judgement.” Another one of Collins’ attorneys, John Stella, says that Collins is not a gangster, “In the hip hop world, he’s not known as one of these troublemakers. He doesn’t live a gangster rap lifestyle.”

It was also made clear that Collins did not shoot himself in the leg as everyone assumed. In fact, his attorney’s claim that he was shot by another person, who officials are currently looking for.

Meanwhile, assistant district attorney, Christine Keenan feels Collins should be held accountable for his actions, “This defendant is on video coming out of the VIP room where the individuals were shot. He had the gun in his hand and was seen firing that gun in the direction of fleeing patrons.” Keenan also stated that cops searched the van that Collins was taken to the hospital in and found three handguns, ballistics confirmed that one of the handguns was used at Irving Plaza.

McPhatter’s brother, Shanduke McPhatter, noted via social media that a member of Taxstone’s crew was the shooter, and Collins obtained the gun after it was dropped.

Collins’ attorney’s requested $50,000 bail, which was immediately shot down. Collin will remain behind bars until his trial begins.
