Travis Scott Sued For Canceling Music Festival Performance

Travis Scott has been slapped with a lawsuit.

We’re only a week into the new year, and Travis Scott is already off to a horrible start. It appears that the Astroworld rapper is being sued by Empire Music Ventures for fraud and breach of contract. Apparently, La Flame bailed on his set at the 2019 Rhyme, Wine & Brews Experience on Empire Polo Grounds, and kept the deposit.

According to The Blast, Scott was set to be paid $400,000 for a hour and fifteen minute set. The deal was made on November 7, 2018, and Scott received a deposit of $217,500 on December 3, 2018. After the payment was received, Scott pulled out of the festival without providing any explanation.

Due to the change of plans, the entire festival had to be canceled, being that Scott was the headliner. Festival organizers released the following statement, “Due to a last minute cancellation by our festival headliner, we have no other choice than to cancel the 2019 Rhythm, Wine & Brews Experience. This decision has not been an easy one, however, it has always been the upmost importance that we deliver an excellent experience for our festival guests. Thank you for understanding and we look forward to returning in 2020 bigger and better than before.”

Scott may not have explained why he canceled his set, however, his agreement stated that he couldn’t “contract or advertise any other performance within a 120-mile radius for 90 days before or 30 days after March 2.”
